A poll conducted by Prof. Camil Fuchs for Channel 13 News found that 44% of Israelis are in favor of a plea bargain for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that would include his retirement from political life. 36% of Israelis oppose such an agreement.
Among voters of parties in the coalition, only 17% support a plea deal while 61% oppose it, while the picture is the opposite among voters of parties from the opposition – 62% support a plea deal, while only 19% oppose it.
Another question that came up in the poll was whether the Attorney General and the State Attorney”s Office should drop the bribery charges in Case 4000, after the judges presiding over the case told prosecutors that they would have a difficult time proving bribery in the case.
41% of respondents replied that the Attorney General should withdraw the bribery charges, while 37% replied that she should continue handling the case as before.
In light of the developments in the Netanyahu trial, respondents were asked whether Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz should agree to join Netanyahu”s government. 35% of respondents replied that they should join the government, while 45% answered that the two should stick to their current refusal and not join Netanyahu. 20% of the respondents answered that they do not know.
In the response to this question, a difference can be discerned between Yesh Atid voters and the voters of the National Unity Party – 33% among voters of National Unity believe that Gantz should agree to join Netanyahu”s government, compared to only 16% of Yesh Atid voters who believe that Lapid should agree to this. However, in both parties the majority of voters oppose joining a government with Netanyahu.
According to the poll, if elections were to be held today, the National Unity Party would win 28 seats and the Likud would win 24.
The Yesh Atid Party wins 20 seats, Shas – 10, United Torah Judaism – 7, the Religious Zionist Party – 6, Yisrael Beytenu – 6, Ra’am – 6, Otzma Yehudit – 5, Meretz – 4, Hadash-Ta’al- 4.
The Labor and Balad parties do not pass the electoral threshold.
