Minister Silman gifts menorah to Moroccan counterpart

During a visit to Morocco, Minister of Environmental Protection Idit Silman gave her counterpart Minister Leila Ben-Ali a menorah with a Star of David symbol with an explanation that the menorah is “the light of the world”.
In addition, Silman gave her a Hamsa plaque (a plaque shaped in a stylized hand, a symbol of protection in both Judaism and Islam) embossed with a dove as a token of appreciation for the Abraham Accords.
Upon leaving the visit, Silman noticed that there was a kangaroo pin on the lapel of the Moroccan minister’s garment, explaining that the reason for this was due to the biological diversity in crisis that the animal symbolizes.
Minister Ben-Ali told Silman that if she had a lion pin, she would wear it.

Minister Silman went to her car and took out of her bag a Jerusalem lion pin that she wore on the last Jerusalem Day. Minister Ben-Ali was very moved by the gesture.
At the end of the visit, the two services agreed on a series of collaborations related to climate change, preservation of the marine environment, desalination and water management, air quality, innovation, and environmental technologies.
It was the first official visit of an Israeli Minister of Environmental Protection to Morocco since the signing of the Abraham Accords, and in the conversation, cooperation in several areas was discussed, among others: climate change, preserving biodiversity and ecosystems preservation of the marine and coastal environment environmental aspects of water management water desalination air quality and innovation and environmental technologies.
