An IDF soldier on leave was detained for questioning on suspicion of taking part in a violent confrontation between Israeli civilians and Palestinians earlier Saturday in the village of Umm Safa.

The confrontation was reported to include stone throwing and the burning of houses and vehicles.
The soldier was detained by the Israeli police and handed over for further investigation by the security forces.
