Bar-Ilan University to launch center promoting Israeli, global dialogue and consensus

This evening, in the presence of President Isaac Herzog, Bar-Ilan University announced the establishment of the Center for Justice Emerging from the Earth. The new Center envisions a paradigm shift in the concept of law, emphasizing its role as a bridge between fields and people., with the aim of paving a path based on dialogue and constructive conflict engagement in Israeli and global society. The announcement regarding the new center, initiated by Faculty of Law Dean and international mediation expert Prof. Michal Alberstein, was made at the Faculty’s 2023 graduation ceremony.

At the ceremony, also attended by the founding members of the Center for Justice Emerging from the Earth and the heads of Israel’s leading law firms, Prof. Alberstein said that “the center will promote research, policy, practical tools and creative thinking while integrating law with other disciplines in order to promote peaceful and constructive resolution of conflicts. It builds on initiatives already existing within the faculty and the university, and on a strong core of activities which reflect respect for diversity and community values.”

“I welcome the opportunity to be here with you today, at Bar-llan University, a magnificent institution that I have been closely associated with for three generations,” said President Herzog. “Disagreement is a fundamental value, and a dispute about the relationship between authorities all the more so, provided that it is with respect, listening, and certainly without cheap demagoguery.”

President Herzog awarded diplomas to the Faculty of Law’s top three graduates: Amir Pincus, Ehud Landau, and Ariel Frankental.
