Former Mossad head: ‘Normalization with Saudia Arabia possible’

The former head of the Mossad, Yossi Cohen, spoke at the INSS – Institute for National Security Studies – conference and sounded optimistic about the chances of reaching a historic peace agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
“Is normalization of Saudi Arabia with Israel possible? In my estimation, and this is based on personal knowledge of the subject, it is absolutely possible,” Cohen said.
According to him, “There is indeed a new era in the Middle East in which brave leaders, such as the Bahraini king, the president of the United Arab Emirates, the Moroccan king – brave leaders all over the map – know how to produce normalization and I think they are present.”

“Our relations with Bahrain and the Emirates are perfect. There is nothing negative I can say about them. Still, Abu Dhabi understands that there is one threat from the east that cannot be ignored. You need to speak so that evil does not come upon you. Take into account their relative size and also the regional interests.” Cohen said.
Channel 12 News revealed last week the list of demands from Saudi Arabia to Israel and the US. Among other things, the Saudis are asking Israel to start a political process vis-a-vis the Palestinians, culminating in “separation”.
The Saudi demand from the United States includes the compromise of arms deals stopped by the Biden administration, a defense alliance with the United States, and a full nuclear program. The United States also presented conditions to Israel, including changes to the planned judicial reform.
