The Georgia prosecutor looking into alleged interference in the 2020 presidential election by former President Donald Trump and his inner circle has asked the Fulton County courthouse to clear its schedule for the month of August, hinting that charges will be coming soon leading to a trial, NBC News reported.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis sent a letter on Thursday to the court”s chief judge. In the letter, Willis asked the judge to not schedule trials and in person hearings during “the weeks beginning Monday, August 7 and Monday, August 14,” according to a New York Times report.
In a letter last month, Willis told law enforcement she would “announce charging decisions resulting from the investigation my office has been conducting into possible criminal interference in the administration of Georgia”s 2020 general election” when the Georgia Superior Court is in its fourth term (July 11 to September 1).

The special grand jury in the case investigating claims of election interference recommended the indictment of multiple people linked to Trump, jury foreperson Emily Kohrs told NBC News in February.
“There are certainly names that you will recognize, yes. There are names also you might not recognize,” Kohrs said.
Trump has denied the allegations in the case. In March, his legal team filed a court document arguing that the evidence gathered alleging election interference was unconstitutional.
