Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Wednesday visited an Iron Dome battery stationed in the south of the country together with the Chief of Staff of the Israel Air Force, Eyal Greenbaum.
The Minister of Defense received an overview of the recent events that took place in the area and spoke with the servicemembers who intercepted the rockets that were fired from the Gaza Strip overnight Tuesday.
Later, the Minister of Defense held a special situation assessment with the Chief of Staff, Major General Herzi Halevi, the head of the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet) Ronen Bar, the head of the IDF”s Operations Directorate, Major General Oded Basiuk, the head of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate, Major General Aharon Haliva, the head of the Unit for Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories, Major General Ghasan Alyan, and other senior defense officials.
At the conclusion of the assessment, Gallant directed that the joint operations between the various security bodies be strengthened to allow freedom of worship and at the same time prevent confrontations on the Temple Mount. Minister Gallant directed that all sectors be alert with a high level of preparedness in the face of all possibilities.
“After a number of situation assessments that I conducted in the last day, I completed a visit and a security review at the Iron Dome battery that intercepted the rockets fired from Gaza tonight. IDF soldiers are on guard to protect the citizens of Israel on the Seder night and throughout Passover, here and everywhere throughout the country, in the air, at sea and on land,” said Gallant.
“I want to say from here in the clearest way: We will hit anyone who tries to harm us and we will exact a heavy price from him that will make him regret any action against Israeli citizens and IDF soldiers. I hope we all have a happy and quiet holiday,” he added.
