Likud MK accuses party members of betraying PM

MK Etty Atia (Likud) called in to Israel National News to advocate for a change the method by which Knesset representatives are elected to the committee for appointing judges. Currently, the committee is elected by a vote in the plenum, without revealing who voted for which candidate.
“Next time we need to make the vote public. After all, in the party meeting, everyone voted in favor of the Prime Minister’s order. I believe that if the elections were open – everyone would unanimously vote according to the Prime Minister’s order,” Atia says.

She emphasizes that in her opinion “many members of the Knesset from the coalition betrayed the Likud and did not keep to the party line that the Prime Minister demanded”.
Regarding the judicial reform legislation, she commented “In light of what happened yesterday, I think the negotiations will break down and we will have to return to unilateral legislation.”
