Biden invites Herzog to White House, not Netanyahu

US President Joe Biden has invited Israeli President Herzog to a meeting at the White House near the end of July, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to wait for such an invitation. Channel 12 News reported that American officials said that the official invitation to Herzog will go out in the coming days.
The president is expected to visit Washington in about a month and give a speech in the House of Representatives. In light of this visit, in recent days there have been talks about his meeting with President Biden and he is expected to respond positively to the invitation and coordinate the issue with Prime Minister Netanyahu’s office.
This will be the second meeting between Presidents Herzog and Biden this year. Netanyahu and Biden have not met since the establishment of the current Israeli government. American sources said that both Netanyahu and Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer were informed of the expected meeting.
During an interview with Sky News last week, Netanyahu was asked about the six-month wait for an invitation to the White House, to which he replied that “Joe Biden is a great friend of Israel” and that he believes an invitation “will come.”
