One of the attorneys representing former President Donald Trump in special counsel Jack Smith”s investigation into classified documents found at Trump”s Mar-a-Lago residence has resigned, CNN reported.
Tim Parlatore told Politico on Wednesday that his departure from Trump”s legal team was for “personal” reasons.
“It”s got nothing to do with my belief in the strength of the case,” he said.
He began working for Trump”s team when legal issues began to mount after the 2020 presidential election.

According to media reports, Parlatore was not in agreement over the legal strategies employed by New York lawyer Joe Tacopina, who represented Trump in the federal civil suit filed by writer E. Jean Carroll, which Trump lost earlier this month.
Parlatore had been key defender of Trump, and had attacked Smith”s investigation into Trump”s handling of classified records as “improper,” according to NBC News.
His departure comes at a significant moment in Smith”s investigation. Earlier in the week, CNN reported that National Archives officials told Trump”s legal team that they were set to hand over to Smith”s investigators documents “that show Trump and his top advisers had knowledge of the correct declassification process while he was president.”
