On the occasion of Israel’s 75th Independence Day, Israel Air Force (IAF) planes saluted the new olim (immigrants) who moved to Israel in the last year by circling an immigrant absorption center in Tiberias where a group of Ethiopian Jews who made aliya in recent months are staying.
Aliya and Integration Ministion Ofir Sofer, Aliya and Integration Ministry Director-General Avichai Kahana, and Tiberias Mayor Boaz Yosef came to the center to congratulate the olim on their move to Israel, wish them a happy Independence Day, and watch the flyover with them.
Minister Sofer said: “It’s exciting to be here with the immigrants to watch the Air Force planes. Many people came to Israel on foot, on ships, or on Air Force planes, I want to congratulate the city that chose to be a receiving city. This is Zionism, to come to Israel, and it is even more Zionist to come to the Galilee.”
