Michoel Schnitzler, a leading Hassidic Jewish singer, passed away suddenly on Friday at the age of 62.
According to Hamodia, Schnitzler suffered a massive heart attack in New York on Friday afternoon, returning from Israel, where he spent Passover. Hatzolah paramedics rushed to the scene but were unsuccessful in saving his life.
Michoel was laid to rest Sunday morning in Monsey, New York.
Among those who eulogized the singer were his sons, the Nilkolsburg Rebbe of Monsey Rabbi Yosef Yechiel Mechel Lebovits, and one of his singing proteges Lipa Schmeltzer, for whom he composed several songs.
Over the course of his 35-year career, Schnitzler released 15 albums with over 150 songs and performed at more than 4,200 weddings.
