Former US President Donald Trump landed at LaGuardia Airport this afternoon (Monday) for his arraignment following the decision by a grand jury convened by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to indict him for allegedly organizing hush money payments made to an adult film star during his 2016 campaign last week.
Trump is expected to be arraigned tomorrow (Tuesday). He will spend the night at Trump Tower in Manhattan.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams today addressed the protests which are expected to be heldtomorrow against Trump’s indictment. “While there may be some rabble-rousers thinking about coming to our city tomorrow, our message is clear and simple: Control yourselves,” Adams said “New York City is our home, not a playground for your misplaced anger.”
The indictment, the first of its kind for a former US President, follows an investigation by Bragg that centered on a $130,000 payment former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made to adult film star Stormy Daniels shortly before the 2016 election.
Bragg, who is known for his soft on crime policies in New York, said during his electoral campaign in 2020: “I have investigated Trump and his children and held them accountable for their misconduct with the Trump Foundation. I know how to follow the facts and hold people in power accountable.”
The former President called the indictment a form of “political persecution.”
“This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history. From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats &mdash the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country &mdash have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement. You remember it just like I do: Russia, Russia, Russia the Mueller Hoax Ukraine, Ukraine, Ukraine Impeachment Hoax 1 Impeachment Hoax 2 the illegal and unconstitutional Mar-a-Lago raid and now this,” said Trump on Thursday night.
