Foreign Ministry; Israel stands with the women of Iran

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, which was marked today (Thursday), and in the wake of the hijab protest that broke out in Iran after the murder of Mehsa Amini in September 2022, Israel’s Foreign Ministry this evening projected messages of Israel’s support for Iranian women on the fa&ccedilade of the ministry building.
The messages projected onto the ministry’s fa&ccedilade read: “Israel stands by the women of Iran” in Hebrew, English and Persian.
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen said: “Iran’s terrorist regime not only impairs regional stability, it also tramples human rights in general and women’s rights in particular. Iran oppresses women, shoots protesters, and even poisons young female students who are trying to acquire an education. We in Israel and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are sending a message of encouragement tonight to those brave women and dedicate this important day to them.”
The Foreign Ministry said that it “chose to dedicate this year’s message to Iranian women who are struggling in the battle for human rights against the terrorist regime in Tehran. This is a continuation of the first digital campaign of its kind produced by the Foreign Ministry’s’s digital division at the end of 2022, which reached an exposure of 85 million views. Many of the views originated with the MFA’s Instagram account in Persian and from within Iran.”
