Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Sunday evening held a situational assessment with the heads of the defense establishment, following the shooting attack and the riots that took place in Huwara.
At the conclusion of the situational assessment, the Minister of Defense directed the reinforcement of the defense efforts in the towns and roads in Judea and Samaria, in order to prevent further attacks and clashes.
In addition, Minister Gallant ordered to increase the vigilance also in the Jerusalem sector and the communities located near the Gaza border.
He also approved the immediate reinforcement of forces in Judea and Samaria, and instructed the IDF to assist the Israel Police as much as necessary in defense missions in the Jerusalem area.
The Minister instructed that all the necessary resources, intelligence and operationally, be allocated to the hunt for the terrorists involved in the shooting attack in which brothers Hillel and Yagel Yaniv were murdered, and at the same time work to calm the area and maintain law and order in the sector.
Following a situational assessment, the IDF decided to reinforce the Judea and Samaria Division with two additional battalions.
Furthermore, as part of the expanding security activity in the city of Shechem (Nablus), it was decided to increase the security checks on routes leading in and out of the city.
IDF, Israel Police and Israel Border Police forces are currently operating in the Shomron Regional Brigade.
