The Jenin Battalion of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military arm of the Islamic Jihad, published a military announcement, in which it gave details of the fighting against the IDF forces operating in Jenin.
“Another round of fighting, struggle, standing firm and confrontation with the usurping enemy has ended and we came out of this battle stronger and more determined,” the statement of the Islamic Jihad Jenin Brigades reads.
According to the announcement, the campaign began with an ambush in the Al-Jabariyat area that included the detonation of a number of IEDs against IDF vehicles, some of which were damaged and put out of action.
The fighting lasted for eight hours, and it included the use of a large number of IEDs against the IDF armored vehicles, combat in various areas and the encirclement of the IDF force in the Al-Jabriyat area, which resulted in the need for a helicopter to assist the IDF’s ground forces.
The Jenin Battalion of the Islamic Jihad concluded by noting that in the next operation, Israel will have to think carefully before sending soldiers to Jenin and that its fighters have “more surprises” ready. It was also reported that fighters from the Jaba and Tulkarm Brigades participated in the fighting alongside the Jenin Brigade.
According to the IDF spokesman, in this morning’s operation, two IDF soldiers were moderately and lightly wounded, as well as five undercover Border Police officers, after at least three powerful explosives exploded under the armored vehicle they were using. Social media footage shows the vehicle advancing under heavy fore before the detonation.
IDF helicopters were launched to rescue casualties and provide cover fire to the soldiers in the area. The helicopters we’re struck numerous times by small arms fire during the operation.
