Hamas magazine dismisses idea of Samaria operation

The official Hamas newspaper Palestine is not impressed by the reports in the Israeli media regarding an intention to launch an extensive military operation in northern Samaria to eradicate Palestinian terrorism.
In an article in Palestine under the title “There will be no extensive Israeli action in northern Samaria”, Dr. Faiz Abu Shamala writes that an extensive military operation similar to the one in 2002 carries the greatest political and security risks, including the collapse of the Palestinian Authority, the loss of control over the soldiers and officers of the Palestinian security forces, the collapse of security coordination and the joining of the security forces in a campaign against Israel, which means the end of the political role of the Palestinian Authority and the Palestinian leadership.

The article predicts that fighting will spread from the north of Samaria to all regions to the south, and asserts with certainty the Gaza Strip will also join the conflict based on the perception that Gaza leads the conflict and is the only one capable of uniting all the forces in the campaign.
The second course of action facing Israel, Abu Shamala wrote, is to disengage from parts of the Palestinian Authority, similar to the disengagement from the Gaza Strip in 2005, and to provide economic incentives to the Palestinian Authority so that it continues to fulfill its role.
“The reasonable observer of the situation will realize that the Israeli threat to launch a comprehensive military operation in Israel is nothing more than a scarecrow,” wrote Abu Shamala, noting that Israel is trying to achieve its goals through threats without taking any action.
