IDF: AWOL soldier chases commanders with knife

An IDF soldier who serves at a Paratrooper Brigade base in central Israel was indicted after he left his unit’s area and went home without permission after he became angry at his commanders.
When his two commanders discovered that he had left, they decided to come to the soldier’s home for a wellness check.
In response, the soldier pulled out a knife and began chasing the two, who escaped to their car and left the area. The Military Court handed down a light sentence of 46 days imprisonment, Channel 12 reported.

According to the indictment, when the two commanders appeared outside his home, the soldier came out and pulled out a knife, threatening his commanders. He approached them and threatened: “I’ll kill you.” The commanders reacted by retreating to their car and escaping the area out of fear of the armed soldier. The incident was reported to the police, and the soldier was arrested for assault of a commander and possession of a cold weapon.
The soldier was sentenced to 46 days in prison, along with a warning and a 2000 NIS reimbursement to his commanders.
