Smotrich: ‘I don’t know English, but I am proud to speak Hebrew’

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich claimed today (Monday) in the Knesset plenum that in the past he should have given a speech in the Hebrew language and not in English at an event in the United States a few weeks ago.
“I didn’t know English, I studied core studies, five units of English. I learned lessons. Laugh at me, question me, I learned lessons,” said Smotrich in the Knesset plenum.

He said: “I was at the OECD conference last week, I had four shows where I had to speak, and I spoke in Hebrew, I told them in English that I would be more comfortable in Hebrew. I should have done it from the start.”
At the end he said: “In this matter, I think we should be proud of the holy language, the Hebrew language, thank God we have been blessed with the revival of the language. I spoke Hebrew and nothing happened, everyone has headphones that translate me into English, French and other languages.”
