Israel’s government is expected to request in the coming weeks that the Supreme Court allow the legislation of a new Draft Law to be delayed, Kan Reshet Bet reported Monday morning.
According tot he report, the request follows a decision by the coalition not to advance the Draft Law during the summer session of the Knesset, and to discuss it only during the winter session.
On Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Justice Minister Yariv Levin (Likud) will attend a meeting focused on the proposals for the Draft Law, according to the haredi parties’ demand.

Among other things, it is expected that those at the meeting will discuss the length of the extension to be requested, and how they will prove to the Supreme Court that progress has been made on the matter.
One of the options under discussion is that of formulating a draft and presenting it to the Supreme Court, despite the fact that legislation will only begin later.
