Writer E. Jean Carroll is threatening to sue former President Donald Trump for a third time after he made “vile” remarks about her during a Wednesday CNN town hall.
Carroll is reportedly considering filing what would be a third defamation suit against Trump for telling CNN”s Kaitlan Collins that her story of him sexually abusing her was “made up” and “fake,” the New York Times reported.
During the CNN special, Trump also described Carroll as a “wack job” and accused the judge of refusing to let his attorneys enter evidence that Carroll referred to her husband as a “ape” and had a cat or a dog with an inappropriate name related to female anatomy.
Carroll”s legal threat came only days after she won a lawsuit in Manhattan court accusing the ex-president of sexual abuse and defamation, with Trump ordered to pay $5 million in damages.
Trump responded to the ruling on Thursday by filing a notice of appeal.
During the town hall on Wednesday, Trump”s comments about Carroll resulted in applause and laughter from the audience made up of New Hampshire Republicans and independents voting in the state”s GOP primary in 2024.
When Collins asked Trump if losing the trial had damaged his political brand, he replied that the opposite was taking place and that he was polling higher than before.
“What do you say to voters who say it disqualifies you from being president?” Collins asked.
“There weren’t too many of them because my numbers&hellip they went up,” Trump replied.
He then repeated his claim that he had never met Carroll before and slammed US District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan for being appointed by President Bill Clinton.
‘This woman, I don’t know her. I never met her. I have no idea who she is. I had a picture taken years ago with her and her husband, nice guy John Johnson. He was a newscaster, very nice. She called him an ape, happens to be African American. Called him an ape,’ Trump told Collins.
