The Conference of European Rabbis (CER), the primary Orthodox rabbinical alliance in Europe, is leaving the UK after nearly seven decades, moving to its new headquarters in Munich, Germany this summer.
The new location will come with funding from the Bavarian state government, according to the Jewish Chronicle.
The CER was founded in 1956 by British Chief Rabbi Sir Israel Brodie to bring new life to the struggling postwar Jewish communities in mainland Europe. According to its website, it brings together over 700 Orthodox leaders from synagogues across Europe.

Besides its new headquarters, the organization will also launch the Center for Jewish Life in Munich. The facility will provide training to rabbis and Rebbetzins from European nations.
The CER was a registered British charity for most of its existence and most recently has been run from Jerusalem, the location of the office of its longtime president, Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt. Rabbi Goldschmidt was the chief rabbi of Moscow until 2022 when he was forced to leave Russia due to its invasion of Ukraine.
