UAE condemns Gaza strikes, calls for halt to ‘escalation’

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday condemned the Israeli counterterrorism Operation Shield and Arrow that targeted senior Islamic Jihad leaders in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement quoted by the UAE”s official news agency WAM, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation called on Israeli authorities to “halt escalation and avoid exacerbating tension and instability in the region.”
Israel overnight Monday eliminated the Islamic Jihad terrorist organization”s Northern Gaza Division Commanding Officer, responsible for the rocket fire toward Israel in the past month a senior operative and coordinator of terrorism in Judea and Samaria from Gaza and the Secretary of the Military Council.
The Gaza health bureau said that 10 other people were killed in the Israeli air strikes on Gaza.

The UAE was one of four Arab nations to normalize relations with Israel in the Abraham Accords, which were brokered by the US in 2020.
Two years after the signing of the accords, there have been a multitude of bilateral agreements in all areas between Jerusalem and Abu Dhabi.
