1 dead as IDF bombs Islamic Jihad rocket launching site

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant (Likud) will hold a security assessment Wednesday evening, amid ongoing tensions on the Gaza frontier.
According to a security official, Israel may end the heightened state of alert in the south.
“If there are no rocket firings, we cannot continue to remain silent about the entire south.”
Netanyahu provided a security briefing to Opposition Leader Yair Lapid Tuesday morning to update him on the ongoing Operation Shield and Arrow.
At around 11:30 a.m., explosions were heard east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.
An IDF spokesperson confirmed that a military strike was carried out in the Gaza Strip targeting terrorists planning to launch rockets towards southern Israel.
“The IDF targeted operatives of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad organization who were in firing positions,” stated the IDF spokesperson. Gaza officials have reported one fatality and one severely injured in the attack.
