In accordance with a decision by Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, the defense establishment will transfer the body of the terrorist Sharif Waridat, who attempted to carry out a stabbing attack in February near the village of Alfuwar in the Hebron region, to the Palestinian Authority, IDF Radio reported.
The 22-year-old terrorist from the Palestinian city of Dahariya attempted to stab an IDF soldier and was eliminated.
On Friday, the PA announced that Israel returned the bodies of Jihad Alshami (24), A’udai Alshami (22), and Muhammad Aldbiq, who were killed by the IDF on March 12 after they opened fire on soldiers.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir attacked Defense Minister Gallant for his decision to return the terrorists’ bodies: “Returning the bodies of the terrorists, members of the Lions’ Den terror organization that carried out a great part of the recent terror attacks in Judea and Samaria, us a great mistake which will cost us dearly.
This government is a right-wing government, and the public did not give us the mandate to return terrorists’ bodies or to prevent attacks in Gaza.” Ben-Gvir added that “Otzma Yehudit will continue to be absent from votes in the Knesset until the government changes direction and begins to uphold the policy for which we were chosen.”
MK Gideon Sa’ar (National Unity) responded to Ben-Gvir on Twitter: “Even without being at the voting, you bear full responsibility. Everyone noticed your bluff.”
