Minister May Golan: Members of the government leaked info against me

Minister May Golan from the Likud on Sunday accused members of the government of leaking information against her, causing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to walk back her appointment as Israel”s Consul General in New York.
“There are agents of chaos in the Israeli government, there is no doubt. Their goal is first and foremost to create chaos around the Prime Minister the first leak [against me] came from a minister,” Golan claimed in an interview with Channel 12 News.
“I didn’t even have time to consider or decide. I was in the United States when I heard about all the mess that is happening here. I received a call from the Prime Minister who told me: ‘May, I need to meet you.’ At the meeting he told me that there is a serious problem with the delegitimization that Lapid and Bennett are doing in the world, with the bad public diplomacy against the State of Israel. He said that due to my English language and advocacy skills, he thinks I’m very much needed there,” she added.
“What they don’t know about me, all the ultimate racists, the arrogant people and the commentators in the television studios – is that I am a better at public diplomacy than they ever dreamed of being. This is what the Prime Minister knows. If I were to accept this position – I would be the best Consul General,” stated Golan.
On the meeting with the Prime Minister, she said, “I told him that I hear the need and understand that it is acute for us. He replied – ‘Think about it,’ he did not force me, coerce or pressure me. There were quite a few phone calls from him. My condition was that first and foremost, the ministry for the advancement of the status of women be established. I want this ministry to be established whether I head it or not. At no point, until this moment, have I said yes.”

“There is a limit to the mob attacks that one person can suffer, and I think that as someone who defended with the Prime Minister, the government and the camp with all her might – I deserved to have the same done for me. Especially when the offer came to me and not the other way around,” she claimed.
She stated that, in her opinion, the Likud will continue and advance the judicial reform. “What is happening here today with the Supreme Court is a dictatorship for its own sake. I am not under the impression that Netanyahu is trying to shelve the legislation.”
