Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman lashed out at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an interview with Channel 13 News on Friday.
“Netanyahu and his cabinet are not ready for a military conflict and cannot lead it. The Prime Minister today is unfit to serve.”
On recent security related incidents, Liberman added that “a cabinet that is a rubber stamp, that is unable to deal with the defense establishment – is unable to lead. This is more than disturbing – we are facing a greater challenge than the Yom Kippur War. I say this responsibly. This government has no diplomatic or security plan.”
On the preparations for Memorial Day and the fear of provocations during the memorial services at the cemeteries, Liberman said, “I think that military cemeteries should not be turned into an area of fighting. At the same time, the families should be taken into consideration. I was assigned to attend a ceremony in a cemetery in Herzliya, I called the mayor and the chairman of Yad Labanim and asked if they want me to come or if I should just leave a wreath or if I should speak. I suggest that every minister call the local mayor and ask if they want them to attend.”
Liberman also dismissed the negotiations on a compromise on the judicial reform.
“The talks at the President’s Residence are a fraudulent trick,” he told Channel 13 News. “Netanyahu merely wants to calm the spirits until Independence Day and May 29 – when the budget needs to be approved. There is no possibility of reaching an agreement with Netanyahu and it is impossible to return to the starting point.”
