Jewish French MP: In parts of Paris it is dangerous to walk around with a kippah

Jewish French Member of Parliament Meyer Habib, who was recently re-elected, said on Tuesday morning that he feels the phenomenon of antisemitism on a daily basis.
Speaking to the haredi Radio Kol Chai on the occasion of Holocaust Remembrance Day, Habib said, “Unfortunately, antisemitism in France is growing under a new name, ‘hatred of Israel’. 12 Jews have been killed since 2012. I feel it every moment. The State of Israel is the insurance policy of the Jewish people.”
“Even in Entebbe, Jews and non-Jews, Israelis and non-Israelis were separated. I feel the antisemitism every day. There are places here, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, where it is dangerous for a Jew to walk around wearing a kippah,” he added.
“I said after the massacre in Toulouse that it starts with the Jews but it won’t end there. In Berlin, a few weeks ago you heard the words ‘Slaughter the Jews’, in the same places where it was said in German a few decades before.”

On his re-election, Habib said that “the world of Torah supported me and I thank God.”
On the current protests in France following the raising of the age of retirement, he said that “whenever there are protests, the hatred of the Jews always comes out. Macron has fallen to a historic low. He made a reform that I think is needed.”
