Significant police forces operated this morning (Sunday) in the community of Ramat Arbel in the Galilee to evacuate the community.
Ramat Arbel is not a ‘settlement’ in the sense that it is located in pre-1967 Israel. It was built on private Jewish land, and was approved by the Cabinet in 2003. Nearby stands an Arab village which was built illegally and which does not face demolition.
The representatives of Ramat Arbel said in response to the move: “It is unacceptable that at a time when the Arabs next to us are building and the danger of a takeover hovers over the entire Galilee, Jews are being evacuated. We are determined to continue holding on to the lands of the Galilee, and as we were promised by the government ministers, we will establish a large Jewish settlement in the Ramat Arbel.”
The Nachala movement called on Prime Minister Netanyahu and Ministers Smotritz, Ben-Gvir, and Strok to immediately stop the destruction in line with the coalition agreements on which the ministers pledged to pass a government decision allowing the community to remain as it is.
“It is unacceptable for a discriminatory policy to exist in the State of Israel when, at a time when the Arabs who are a few meters from Ramat Arbel continue their daily lives and build and take control of the Galilee lands without being stopped, our forces are instead being sent to evacuate Jews,” the movement said in a statement.
