Early on Monday, following an ISA (Shin Bet) intelligence report, IDF soldiers were dispatched to the Aqabat Jabar camp near Jericho in the Jordan Valley in order to apprehend a terrorist suspect.
During IDF activity, violent riots were instigated in a number of locations in the camp. As the soldiers left the area, several individuals opened fire toward them and also hurled explosive devices and Molotov cocktails. Soldiers responded with live fire and .22 caliber ammunition. Hits were identified. The suspect was transferred to security forces for further processing.
No IDF injuries were reported.
The operation is not reported to be connected to the ongoing search for the murderer of Maia and Rina Dee, who is still at large.
