Religious Zionism MK pays surprise visit to anti-judicial reform protest tent

Religious Zionism MK Tzvi Sukkot, who is considered the “representative of the outposts in Judea and Samaria” in the Knesset, surprised demonstrators in an anti-judicial reform protest tent near the Knesset when he stopped by for a heart-to-heart talk. After his visit, MK Sukkot and one of the demonstration leaders, Ofer Firt, spoke with Hazinor.
Ofer was asked if he began to prepare for a confrontation when he saw Sukkot entering the tent: “To tell the truth, I removed my proverbial hat. It was impressive that he had the courage to come, sit, talk, and most importantly, listen.”
Sukkot was asked if he was worried when he entered the tent and said, “I didn’t think that they would attack me, G-d forbid, or something like that. I did think that people would try to speak in slogans. But no, I met people, and we had a deep conversation, and I learned a lot.
I learned about the concerns, the people who are worried are truly scared of the government. People who think that a new force is rising to power, and they don’t know what they’ll do in the future without the Supreme Court’s balances, I understand where this fear stems from,” said Sukkot.

Sukkot said that during the conversation, he learned that Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz don’t run the protest movement: “I thought that the politicians Yair Lapid and Benny Gantz hold the protest by the hand and therefore I thought that there’s no chance of reaching a compromise.
What I discovered,” he recounted, “Was that there is something authentic here. The moment they understand that there is a plan that they can accept, there is certainly a chance to reach an agreement.”
Ofer added, “If they want us to live here and to continue to serve in the military and that our children will serve, we need to reach something, so we can also live here.”
