‘Protesters don’t accept election results’

MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism) spoke with BBC about the ongoing protests against the judicial reforms he is helping to advance.
“The right to protest is part of a viable democracy,” Rothman says, “and I will fight for this right. I think some of the protesters raise valid points along the way.”

“When you talk to the leaders of the protest or people who are very concerned about this issue, the judicial reform is the least of their concerns,” he clarified. “They say openly that they are taking to the streets because they don’t like Netanyahu being Prime Minister.”
“Some of the protesters fear religion-based legislation. Some of these fears may be real, but most are faked,” Rothman insists. “It will be our job to prove that those fears are unfounded, but for most protesters, judicial reform is the last thing on their mind.”
