Team Israel reveals Jewish-themed shoes for upcoming tournament

Team Israel”s baseball team has announced Jewish themed shoes designed by the team’s pitcher Alex Katz.
The left-handed pitcher”s two shoe designs feature blue Stars of David on a white background and depictions of Jerusalem.

They will be worn by Team Israel at this year”s World Baseball Classic tournament hosted by Japan, Taiwan and the United States from March 8 to 21. The series will feature 20 national baseball teams.
The shoes were designed by Katz along with his company Stadium Custom Kicks, which describes itself as “the go-to footwear customizer for over 1000 professional athletes & celebrities.”
The shoes were the creation of Ari Solomon, a 23-year-old Orthodox Jew and high school Jewish studies teacher who is currently studying to be a rabbi. Solomon is the head designer at Stadium Custom Kicks, according to The Forward.

Solomon creates the designs and then the company’s team of artists paint them onto the shoes.
The company, founded by Katz in 2017 as a side project when he was a minor league player, is one of only three licensed merchandise customizing companies affiliated with Major League Baseball.
