Residents of Evyatar return to the outpost, security forces remove them

The families who lived in the outpost of Evyatar in Samaria, along with hundreds of yeshiva students, decided to return to the outpost on Sunday night, in response to the attack in Huwara in which brothers Hillel and Yagel Yaniv were murdered.
The move came after about a year and a half in which Israel”s governments did not fulfill an agreement signed with the residents of Evyatar. The agreement stipulated that the residents would leave the outpost and, in return, Israel would convert the site into a hesder yeshiva.
Security forces who were called to the site on Sunday night began to evacuate the hundreds of people who arrived the scene and demand that they leave the place.
Tahiya Haim, a resident of Evyatar, said that “after the difficult news today in Samaria, we could not continue our daily routine and the required thing is to return to Evyatar. We returned to Evyatar as promised to us by all the parties in the coalition.”
“The Israeli government needs to fight terrorism with a heavy hand, and at the same time – return to establishing dozens of communities immediately in all parts of the Land of Israel,” she added.
Daniela Weiss, chairwoman of the Nachala movement, said, “The families and yeshiva have been waiting for over a year to return to Evyatar. The reality in which the Israeli government allows the Palestinian Authority with one hand to take over the nation’s lands, and with the other hand to murder our children, is unacceptable. The time has come for the ‘fully right-wing’ government to build hundreds of new communities in Judea and Samaria.”

Those who arrived in Evyatar on Sunday night reminded Defense Minister Yoav Gallant that, after the signing of the agreement between the government and the residents of Evyatar two years ago, he wrote, “Establishing the hesder yeshiva in the place will ensure the renewal of the settlement in the future, and the security of the vital axis from Tel Aviv to the Jordan Valley.”
The residents called out to Gallant, “Now it’s your shift, it’s time to see action. Keep the government’s promise and order the security forces to leave the settlement pioneers, who went up to Evyatar this evening, alone.”
