Chai FM took to the airwaves on 9 December 2008 (8 Kislev). Chai FM is a Jewish community radio station that broadcasts 24 hours a day, 6 days a week to the greater Johannesburg area. Jewish communities outside of the terrestrial signal area are able to access Chai FM via internet live stream. As a community station the content is geared toward all age groups and caters to the needs of the community as a whole. Some feature shows have a more focused appeal (e.g. business, children's programming, youth, spirituality). The Format is currently 50% talk, and 50% music being adult contemporary from the 70's and 80's in addition to Israeli contemporary and Jewish music from around the world. By the end of 2009, the station will be 80% talk and 20% music. Guests comprise the top experts in their fields, offering entertaining and relevant information to our community members on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. The Chai FM target audience is LSM10 made up by the traditional Jewish population in South Africa. Chai FM is broadcasts from the heart of the community in Johannesburg. Â
